Peristaltic Tubing & Conical Adapters

Idex Conical Adapters

IDEX Conical Adapters are engineered to create reliable transitions between soft-walled tubing and rigid-walled tubing in laboratory fluid handling systems. This product family supports secure, low-leak connections across tubing sizes and materials commonly used in peristaltic pumping, sample transfer, and low-pressure fluid paths.

Peristaltic Tubing Adapters (supplied as 2-packs) provide a robust, pressure-resistant connection between soft-walled tubing and 1/16" OD rigid tubing using the included compression fitting set. The adapters feature 1/4-28 flat-bottom ports, enabling compatibility with additional tubing sizes when needed. A locking collar design helps maintain tubing retention and improves connection stability under dynamic pumping conditions.

Standard Conical Adapter Assemblies are individually packaged and designed for straightforward transitions between soft-walled tubing and 1/16" or 1/8" OD rigid tubing. These adapters offer quick installation and broad tubing compatibility, but they do not incorporate a locking collar. As a result, they are best suited for lower pressure requirements compared to Peristaltic Tubing Adapters.

Key Definitions â–¸
Conical Adapter
A fluidic connector designed to transition between soft-walled tubing and rigid-walled tubing by using a tapered internal geometry to create a secure, leak-resistant seal.
Peristaltic Tubing Adapter
A specialized conical adapter engineered for use with peristaltic pump tubing, providing a secure mechanical interface between soft-walled tubing and standard rigid tubing sizes such as 1/16" OD.
Locking Collar
A mechanical retention feature used on select adapters to maintain consistent tubing compression, improving connection stability and pressure resistance during operation.
Flat-Bottom Port
A port design where the sealing surface is flat rather than conical, commonly used with 1/4-28 threads to accommodate a wide range of tubing sizes and fitting styles.
Pressure Rating
The maximum internal pressure a fitting or adapter can safely withstand under normal operating conditions, typically influenced by tubing material, connection design, and retention mechanisms.
Frequently Asked Questions â–¸
What are Idex Conical Adapters used for?
Idex Conical Adapters are used to connect soft-walled tubing, such as peristaltic pump tubing, to rigid-walled tubing including standard 1/16" and 1/8" OD tubing.
What is the difference between Peristaltic Tubing Adapters and standard Conical Adapter Assemblies?
Peristaltic Tubing Adapters include a locking collar for enhanced tubing retention and higher pressure capability, while standard Conical Adapter Assemblies do not incorporate a locking collar and are typically rated for lower pressures.
What tubing sizes are compatible with these adapters?
These adapters support connections between soft-walled tubing and rigid tubing sizes including 1/16" OD and 1/8" OD, with additional flexibility provided by 1/4-28 flat-bottom threaded ports.
Are Conical Adapters suitable for high-pressure applications?
Pressure capability depends on the adapter type and tubing used. Peristaltic Tubing Adapters generally offer higher pressure ratings than standard Conical Adapter Assemblies due to their locking collar design.
