Shut-Off Valves

Idex Shut-Off Valves

IDEX shut-off valves provide fast, reliable flow control for chromatography and laboratory fluid-handling systems. Designed for biocompatible applications, these valves allow operators to quickly stop or isolate fluid streams without disturbing upstream connections—ideal for HPLC, UHPLC, diagnostic, and sample-preparation workflows.

Valve bodies are manufactured from chemically resistant PEEK™ or Tefzel® (ETFE) and paired with precision rotors to deliver smooth operation and long service life. Select ETFE configurations offer low-torque actuation while maintaining pressure ratings up to 500 psi (34.5 bar). Blue colorant used in select valve models has been proven not to leach when exposed to most common HPLC solvents, ensuring sample integrity.

IDEX shut-off valves are compatible with a wide range of tubing materials. Semi-rigid polymer tubing such as PEEK, FEP, and PFA connects easily using the included flangeless fittings, while soft tubing like Pharmed® or Tygon® can be attached using 1/4-28 barbed adapters. This flexibility allows seamless integration into both low-pressure and analytical flow paths.

Chrom Tech offers a curated selection of IDEX shut-off valves and compatible fittings to support dependable fluid isolation, simplified maintenance, and leak-free system performance. Many popular configurations are in stock and ready to ship.

Key Definitions â–¸
Shut-Off Valve
A manual fluid control valve designed to quickly stop or isolate flow within chromatography and laboratory fluidic systems without disconnecting tubing.
PEEKâ„¢ (Polyether Ether Ketone)
A high-performance, biocompatible polymer commonly used in HPLC components for its excellent chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and solvent compatibility.
ETFE (Tefzel®)
A fluoropolymer material offering outstanding chemical inertness and low operating torque, often used in shut-off valves rated up to 500 psi for analytical and low-pressure fluid paths.
Flangeless Fittings
Compression-style fittings that allow direct connection of semi-rigid polymer tubing such as PEEK, FEP, or PFA without flaring, creating secure, leak-resistant seals.
Barbed Adapter
A fitting designed to connect soft tubing materials like Pharmed® or Tygon® to threaded valve ports, enabling flexible hose connections in low-pressure fluidic applications.
Frequently Asked Questions â–¸
What are IDEX shut-off valves used for?
